Security Industry Leaders, I’m asking you to reflect, so let me share mine first…

I founded Ubiety Technologies out of my own frustrating experience as a home security customer. Here’s a bit more about my background and the pivotal moments that led me to start Ubiety:

• I’m a former M&A investment banker turned serial entrepreneur. Over the years, I’ve founded four companies, and in every one of them, I can honestly say I’m never the smartest person in the room. But what I bring is a deep commitment to understanding the problems I’m solving. When I see a challenge, my passion and intensity to create value and provide solutions are unstoppable.
  
• For most of my adult life, I lived in high rises in NYC and Chicago, always with a doorman. I never thought twice about home security. It wasn’t until my family moved into our first single-family home in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago that I experienced a visceral reaction to the proximity of our front door to a busy city sidewalk. At the time, I was traveling often for work, and I had three young children (we now have five!). Family safety became my top priority.
  

In an effort to safeguard my family, I turned to a nationally recognized security provider. I bought everything they offered: indoor/outdoor cameras, noise sensors, window shocks, motion detectors, door/window alarms, and mobile apps. I thought I had covered all my bases. In that moment, I felt a false sense of security—believing that my family was truly safe.

But then came the turning point: one night, while I was traveling, I received a call from the security company. There was an active alarm at my home. Instantly, I was struck by the overwhelming feeling of fear and helplessness. Was my wife home? Were my kids safe? Was there an intruder? The truth was, I had no idea. All the technology I’d invested in wasn’t providing any answers.

The security company then asked me, “Should we dispatch the police?” At that moment, the reality hit: I was expected to make a decision that could impact my family's safety, and I had no information to base that decision on. It was a gut-wrenching experience. The very reason I invested in security—peace of mind—had failed me.

That’s when I decided something had to change.

I set out to create Ubiety—a company that provides instant, accurate situational awareness to homeowners, security companies, and law enforcement. We verify who’s in a home by identifying individuals based on the devices they’re carrying. Using our proprietary AI engine, we analyze Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular signals to give real-time insights into what’s happening inside a home. This information is delivered through a world-class mobile app, and can be passed directly to monitoring partners and even law enforcement to enable faster, more informed responses.

At Ubiety, we don’t guess. We verify presence.

So, to answer the question, What’s my WHY? It’s pictured below. My family: Melissa, Olivia, Joaquin, Thalia, Knox, and Quinn. Ensuring their safety, knowing exactly who’s in my home, and having peace of mind about their well-being is my mission.
